‘This ONE Thing Will Fix Our Broken Foreign Policy And Broken Political System’ – RPI’s Daniel McAdams on the Kim Iversen Show

by | Mar 1, 2024 |

RPI Director Daniel McAdams joined the Kim Iversen show today for a wide-ranging, hour-long provocative discussion on what is wrong the the US political system, what is wrong with our foreign policy, what is wrong with current US culture...and how we can fix it. Though much of the talk is on the issues, there is plenty of fun banter and off-topic discussion to round out the program:

MSNBC Legal Analyst: Free Speech Could Be America’s ‘Achilles Heel’

by | Mar 1, 2024 |

We have been discussing the alarming shift in higher education in favor of censorship and speech regulations. These voices have been amplified on media platforms like MSNBC which has championed efforts to censor people and groups on social media and other forums. The most recent example is the interview of University of Michigan Law Professor and MSNBC legal analyst Barbara McQuade by Rachel Maddow. In the interview, McQuade explains how the First Amendment is the “Achilles...

The Background to the War in Ukraine

The Background to the War in Ukraine

by | Mar 1, 2024 |

The second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022, has led to an outpouring of nauseating propaganda from Western governments and the European Commission, accompanied by various symbolic photoshoots.  The line is peddled vigorously that the Russian invasion was “illegal and unprovoked” and that Ukraine is defending Europe and its values.  Neither of these claims is true and yet the cult of anniversaries is used to pretend that...

The Bitter Pill of Decisive Strategic Defeat

The Bitter Pill of Decisive Strategic Defeat

by | Feb 29, 2024 |

The last two years have produced what is, for most people around the world who ponder such things, one of the most unanticipated and yet astounding geopolitical turnarounds in modern history. The heretofore reigning global hegemon designed to inflict upon Russia — its long-time nemesis — a decisive strategic defeat that would deliver the greatest spoil ever taken, and thereby consolidate its power base into the foreseeable future and beyond. The empire imagined Russia to be at its...

The Torturers’ Poor Memories

The Torturers’ Poor Memories

by | Feb 29, 2024 |

As the pre-trial hearings in the case of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and others who are charged with masterminding the 9/11 attacks proceed at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba, the government continues to stumble with its own witnesses. In hearings last week, government lawyers tried to demonstrate that statements the defendants made to CIA and FBI agents were voluntary. When the government’s principal torturer, a now retired psychologist, had difficulty recalling that during a torture session...

U.S. Senate Votes To Send More Billions Down Ukrainian Rathole

U.S. Senate Votes To Send More Billions Down Ukrainian Rathole

by | Feb 28, 2024 |

The U.S. Senate passed a major foreign aid bill recently by a vote of 70-29. This bill will require spending $95.3 billion that we do not have. We have a national debt that is approaching $35 trillion, a figure so huge that no one can humanly comprehend how much that is. The Congressional Budget Office has projected that our interest payments on this debt will be $870 billion in 2024 and $951 billion in 2025. The interest on this debt comes out to over $2,600 per person for this year and over...

US Seeks to Cap Middle East Violence; In This, Iran Is (a Kind of) ‘Ally’

by | Feb 27, 2024 |

Israel’s dual strategy for Lebanon is to exert pressure through direct raids to instil fear amongst the wider population, whilst deploying diplomatic pressure to purge Hizbullah – not just from the border, but from regions beyond the Litani River (some 23 kms to the north). Only Hizballah doesn’t budge. It remains adamant: It will not be displaced from its historic homelands in the south – and refuses to discuss the matter at all. “If this threat is not removed diplomatically, we will not...

Highway Robbery Continues to Be the Law of the Land

Highway Robbery Continues to Be the Law of the Land

by | Feb 26, 2024 |

Seizure fever is toxifying law enforcement across the nation. For more than thirty years, federal, state, and local government agencies have plundered citizens on practically any harebrained accusation or pretext. You could be at risk of being pilfered by officialdom anytime you sit behind a steering wheel. Between 2001 and 2014, lawmen seized more than $2.5 billion in cash from sixty thousand travelers on the nation’s highways—with no criminal charges in most cases, according to...

After Two Years, Neocons Desperate For More War in Ukraine

After Two Years, Neocons Desperate For More War in Ukraine

by | Feb 26, 2024 |

In a recent CNN interview, the normally very confident US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland sounded a little desperate. She was trying to make the case for Congress to pass another $61 billion dollars for the neocons’ proxy war project in Ukraine and she was throwing out the old slogans that the neocons use when they want funding for their latest war. Asked by CNN whether she believes that Congress will eventually pass the bill, Nuland responded that she has confidence that, "we will do...

Alexei Navalny, 1976-2024

by | Feb 24, 2024 |

When the Nord Stream pipelines were blown up in September 2022, the media rushed to say that Russia did it.  We now know that the Americans did it, attacking their main European ally, Germany, and with it, the whole of Europe. When Alexei Navalny’s death was announced on 16 February, Western media immediately said it was a political assassination (something even the most virulent Western governments have not maintained). But how can we know with certainty...

Donald Trump and Government Theft

Donald Trump and Government Theft

“Where there is a wrong, there is a remedy." -- Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo (1870-1938) Last week, a New York court ordered the Trump Organization and its principals -- including the former President -- to forfeit nearly $400 million to the state government. This gargantuan punishment was not for any crime committed or harm caused by the defendants. Rather, it was government theft at its worst. Here is the backstory. When U.S. Supreme Court Justice Benjamin N. Cardozo described the basic...

COVID-19 Tested Our Commitment to Freedom. Three Years Later, We’re Still Failing

COVID-19 Tested Our Commitment to Freedom. Three Years Later, We’re Still Failing

by | Feb 21, 2024 |

The government never cedes power willingly. Neither should we. If the COVID-19 debacle taught us one thing it is that, as Justice Neil Gorsuch acknowledged, “Rule by indefinite emergency edict risks leaving all of us with a shell of a democracy and civil liberties just as hollow.” Unfortunately, we still haven’t learned. We’re still allowing ourselves to be fully distracted by circus politics and a constant barrage of bad news screaming for attention. Three years after the onset of the...

The United States Vetoes Yet Another UN Humanitarian Ceasefire Over Gaza

by | Feb 21, 2024 |

There have been several interesting developments relating to Israel’s ongoing destruction of Gaza and its people, but one might well question the motives of at least one of the principal players in the drama, namely Joe Biden’s United States government. Last Tuesday the United States, acting to protect Israel, vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution, arguing that it would “jeopardize” the ongoing negotiations between the two parties to release the Israeli hostages and...

Washington’s ‘Credibility’ Gap

This article first appeared as an exclusive update to RPI subscribers. Subscribe for free here. I know one good writer for the American Greatness publication - Julie Kelly who writes on the injustice of the January 6th persecutions - but even though I get their regular updates in my email box I never open them up. It seems like more or less just another of the "conservative" outlets that churn out highly political and politicized fodder - with plenty of "outrage stories" -  not very well...

The Resistance Has a Plan for Israel. But on the Other Side, Fantastical U.S. Stratagems Ensure a Cascading Failure

In a speech on Tuesday, Hizbullah leader Seyed Nasrallah said that the Party will continue the border offensive until at least the Gaza massacre stops. The war in Gaza however, is far from over. And Nasrallah warned that even were a ceasefire to be reached in Gaza, “should the enemy perform any action, we will return to operating according to the rules and formulas that existed before. The purpose of the resistance is to deter the enemy, and we will react accordingly.” Israel’s...

Biden White House: FISA Good, Warrants Bad

by | Feb 20, 2024 |

Former president Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked what he generically refers to as the Washington, DC “deep state”—usually an inference about the FBI’s misuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to target his 2016 presidential campaign. On Valentine’s Day, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made it clear that it’s not some nebulous, governmental Illuminati‐style cabal seeking to retain the power to spy at scale on Americans. It’s the Biden administration...
