The Rise of the Prison State: Trump’s Push for Megaprisons Could Lock Us All Up

by | Jul 11, 2025 |

America is rapidly becoming a nation of prisons. Having figured out how to parlay presidential authority in foreign affairs in order to sidestep the Constitution, President Trump is using his immigration enforcement powers to lock up—and lock down—the nation. Under the guise of national security and public safety, the Trump administration is engineering the largest federal expansion of incarceration and detention powers in U.S. history. At the center of this campaign is Alligator...

Trump To Send $300M In Weapons To Ukraine Drawn From Pentagon Reserves

by | Jul 11, 2025 |

For the first time, President Donald Trump is set to use his authority to send weapons directly to Ukraine from Pentagon reserves, Reuters reports, citing two sources familiar with the matter, after last week's brief halt in shipments and now subsequent reversal. Until now, the Trump administration had only transferred arms that were previously approved during Biden's prior term. Trump is likely to use the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), which enables the president to...

‘Global War on Terror’ is Over. Terror Won.

by | Jul 10, 2025 |

On Sept. 16, 2001, five days after the attacks on New York and Washington, DC, President George W. Bush declared, “This crusade - this war on terrorism - is going to take a while. And the American people must be patient. I'm going to be patient. But I can assure the American people I am determined." Four days after that, President Bush declared the “war on terror” to be primarily against al-Qaeda. “Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda,” he said in an address to Congress and the nation, “but...

Searching for Monsters

Searching for Monsters

by | Jul 10, 2025 |

“America goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy ...She might become the dictatress of the world,But she would no longer be the ruler of her own spirit.”-- John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) In the middle of his term as Secretary of State, the future president John Quincy Adams requested permission to address a joint session of Congress. Such a request is unheard of in modern times. What was on his mind? The United States had just fought Great Britain to a draw in the War of 1812. It was...

The Easily Excited Homeland Security Secretary

The Easily Excited Homeland Security Secretary

by | Jul 9, 2025 |

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference Tuesday at Ronald Reagan National Airport where she stood before flags, banners, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees. Starting off her prepared statement, Noem declared right after introducing herself: “We have some very exciting news to announce.” But, when the announcement came, informed individuals would be justified in responding: “Really? You are way too easily excited.” Noem continued her...

‘We’re Impressed’: Zelensky Now Sings Trump’s Praises & CIA Director Breathes Sigh Of Relief

"They have to be able to defend themselves," Trump said Monday, offering confirmation of his weapons to Ukraine policy U-turn. "They're getting hit very hard. ... We're gonna have to send more weapons." A presidential aide to Volodymyr Zelensky has offered new insight into how Trump's reversal came about, especially related to his phone call with the Ukrainian president held last Friday, after a prior 'disappointing' Putin call. Yermak described that Trump's decision to...

The Way Most Americans Feel About Foreign Wars

The Way Most Americans Feel About Foreign Wars

by | Jul 9, 2025 |

When I was in Congress, the least popular, least respected members were the biggest publicity seekers – the ones who were the first and quickest to run to the cameras. They were not regarded as serious legislators. Thus, I have not been a big fan of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. However, several days ago, she wrote some words on her X account which I think express the feelings and frustrations of the overwhelming majority of Americans. The following are her words: “I’m 51 years old. I’m GenX....

Two Possible Fates Waiting in the Wings

Two Possible Fates Waiting in the Wings

by | Jul 9, 2025 |

I often wonder which of two possible fates waiting in the wings will be ours. Will Washington/Israeli hegemonic ambition, together with Russian/Chinese/Iranian denial, or perhaps avoidance, of reality, destroy us in nuclear war, or will the digital revolution and its bastard child–Artificial Intelligence–lock up humanity in endless tyranny? I read idealistic accounts of AI in which we all have an AI assistant that manages our daily schedules, our health, diet, weight, and what we eat and...

‘The Land of Performance’: Trump Wanted a Perfect War, a Headline Showstopper

‘The Land of Performance’: Trump Wanted a Perfect War, a Headline Showstopper

“Depending on who you ask, the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan was either a smashing success that severely crippled Tehran’s nuclear programme, or a flashy show whose results were less than advertised … In the grand scheme of things, all of this is just drama.” The big issue – second only to “what next in Iran” and how they might respond — says Michael Wolff (who has written four books on Trump), is “how the MAGA is going to respond”: And I think he...

US/Israel Versus Iran – Round One

US/Israel Versus Iran – Round One

by | Jul 8, 2025 |

My summary assessment of the missile war over Israel during the 12-day-long first act of the ongoing war between Israel et alia and Iran et alia: The first Iranian counterstrike against Israel (14 June) began with a few hundred drones and relatively antiquated subsonic cruise missiles, whose primary mission was to soak up air to air and Iron Dome magazine depth. Additionally, the IDF claims the Iranians fired over 200 ballistic missiles on 14 June. I think that is probably an...

New footage exposes ragtag US mercenaries firing toward Gaza aid seekers

by , | Jul 8, 2025 |

Following an AP investigation accusing a US mercenary firm of firing on desperate Gaza aid seekers, the company has released extensive new footage in an attempt at damage control. But the video only further implicates the scandal-plagued operation. On July 2, the Associated Press released an exposé containing short videos which appeared to show American mercenaries associated with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) opening fire on aid-seekers in Gaza during an incident in...

What Trump Should Tell Netanyahu

What Trump Should Tell Netanyahu

by | Jul 7, 2025 |

A few weeks ago I urged President Trump to make a deal with Iran that would satisfy his stated goal of no nuclear weapons production and would allow Iran to continue its lawful pursuit of civilian nuclear energy. The deal on the table, as described by the Iranian foreign minister himself, was a win-win “update” of Obama’s JCPOA “nuclear deal” that could have avoided a costly and counter-productive war with Iran. Unfortunately, the negotiations were cut short by an Israeli sneak-attack on Iran...

CIA: Our Trump-Russiagate Claims Were Corrupt, Our Claims On Iran Are …

The CIA has published a "tradecraft review" of the 2016 "Intelligence Community Assessment" which had claimed that Russia had interfered in the 2016 presidential election. The review found what had been obvious to anyone. The 2016 assessment had not followed the normal process for such papers but had based its conclusions on no or insignificant evidence. Or, as the NY Post headlines: Obama’s Trump-Russia collusion report was corrupt from start A bombshell new CIA review of the...

Strategic Ambiguity

by | Jul 4, 2025 |

Donald Trump calls himself a peacemaker. His actions, however, betray his words. When it comes to the Middle East, he is an obvious war president. This begs the question: Does he have a coherent Middle East strategy beyond providing for Israel’s security interests? Has he entered into a war against Iran he can’t finish? CrossTalking with Daniel McAdams, Elijah J. Magnier, and Alon Pinkas.

Spying on Iran: How MI6 infiltrated the IAEA

by | Jul 4, 2025 |

Leaked confidential files indicate the International Atomic Energy Agency was infiltrated by a veteran British spy who has claimed credit for sanctions on Iran. The documents lend weight to the Islamic Republic’s accusation that the nuclear watchdog secretly colluded with its enemies. A notorious British MI6 agent infiltrated the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on London’s behalf, according to leaked documents reviewed by The Grayzone. The agent, Nicholas Langman, is a veteran...

The Empire Has Accidentally Caused The Rebirth Of Real Counterculture In The West

The Empire Has Accidentally Caused The Rebirth Of Real Counterculture In The West

by | Jul 4, 2025 |

Everyone’s still talking about Bob Vylan, and rightly so. A crowd full of westerners happily being led through a chant of “Death, death to the IDF” at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival was a historical landmark moment for the 21st century, and the group’s persecution at the hands of western governments is once again highlighting the way our society’s purported values of free thought and free expression go right out the window wherever Israel is concerned. But one thing that’s not getting...
