Brexit: A Win For Localism?

Will UK leaders ignore the recent Brexit vote and go ahead with business as usual? European Parliament Member and leading voice in the “leave the EU” movement Daniel Hannan tells today’s Liberty Report that he does not think so. He is confident that the move toward localism and away from the centralism of Brussels will be good for the UK and for its friends and partners around the world. NATO’s Warsaw War Plans

The big NATO 2016 Summit begins in Warsaw today. On the agenda is approving a NATO force of up to 4,000 troops to be stationed on Russia’s borders in the Baltic. It will be the first regular troop deployment aimed at Moscow since the fall of the Berlin Wall more than a quarter-century ago. How would the US feel if a reconstituted Warsaw Pact expanded to include Cuba and Mexico decided to station thousands of troops on the US border with Mexico? Threatened? Yet Russia is not supposed to feel threatened? Also on NATO’s agenda will be prodding European governments to begin spending more money on defense. Though Russia has been declared an “existential threat” by NATO, those countries directly in the line of Russia’s fire do not spend money on defense. Is that odd? Today’s Liberty Report is joined by Future of Freedom Foundation President Jacob Hornberger. NATO is on the menu. Watch below:

UK’s Chilcot Report Exposes Iraq War Lies

The Iraq war was a war of choice, not of necessity. That was the conclusion of the Chilcot Report today, the culmination of a seven year long investigation by the UK’s Sir John Chilcot. In one sentence the horror of the US/UK attack on Iraq is laid bare. According to the respected British medical journal The Lancet, one million Iraqis died in the war that would not have died had the US/UK not attacked. That means more than a million died due to the lies of then-UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, then-President George W. Bush and the coterie of neocons who egged them on. A cakewalk? More like a death march. What are the chances of a real investigation here in the US of the lies used to get to attack Iraq? Ron Paul points out in today’s Liberty Report that it is very unlikely. After all, the political elites in the US still believe in these kinds of interventions.

Conspiracy Fact: NATO’s Russia War Push

Recently hacked emails show that NATO’s then-Supreme Allied Commander for Europe, Gen. Philip Breedlove (USAF) was actively seeking to promote a conflict with Russia over Ukraine. He was also actively seeking to undermine President Obama’s position opposing actions that could lead to war with Russia. Breedlove declared his own war on multiple fronts, secretly manipulating US public opinion using false stories of Russian tanks in Ukraine. He conspired with NATO-funded think tanks to propagandize the public through the use of military “information war” techniques. A glimpse into the deep state’s conspiracy fact in today’s Liberty Report:

Istanbul Bombing – Who’s At Fault?

Yesterday’s tragic bombing of the Kemal Ataturk Airport in Istanbul comes amid a busy week of Turkish diplomacy: Turkish President Erdogan has apologized to Russia for shooting down a Russian fighter jet and Turkey has taken major steps to restore good relations with Israel and Egypt. Who would want to shut down Turkey as it takes an apparent foreign policy shift…and why? We look into the possibilities in today’s Liberty Report:

A New European Superstate Is Hardly The Answer

If the UK actually succeeds in exiting the EU, what will be the fate of the remaining members? According to a report yesterday, the French and Germans are looking to create what would essentially be a single European “superstate” that would put an end to national sovereignty. Will this idea fly with the 27 remaining members? We take a look at the post-Brexit landscape in today’s Liberty Report:

Brexit: Truth And Consequences

European and US markets are shaky in the wake of the historic UK vote to leave the EU. The neocons are warning that the vote will weaken Europe and thus embolden Russia. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the UK vote result makes strengthening NATO more critical than ever. The US media has tried to portray the vote as a victory for Russian president Vladimir Putin. One hack even said of the vote to leave, “[t]hey are drinking copious amounts of vodka in the Kremlin today.” In today’s Liberty Report we try to look past the hype at what the real ramifications of the vote might be in the shorter term and longer term:

Chaos In Congress: Are Guns The Issue?

House Democrats held an unprecedented “sit-in” on the House Floor last night, protesting not being able to vote on new gun restriction measures. House Republicans nearly came to blows with their counterparts, as many of them blame recent gun violence on “radical Islam.” Legislation to prohibit anyone on the “terror watch list” from purchasing a firearm was already defeated (for now) in the Senate this week, but House Democrats want their own vote on the measure. Both sides miss the real point, however. Neither will consider the real cause of the violence and therefore both sides seek harmful solutions. Clinton Foundation Hack: Amazing Revelations

The recent hack into the computers of the Clinton Foundation has revealed tens of millions of foreign government dollars sent in “donations” while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. Could the millions in Saudi donations have influenced Hillary’s Middle East foreign policy? Will we ever know? Is this all an acceptable way to conduct foreign policy? War Is Over: US Out Of Okinawa!

Seventy years after the end of World War II and a quarter century after the end of the Cold War does it make any sense to still maintain tens of thousands of US military personnel on the tiny island of Okinawa? Particularly as neither the local population nor its political leadership wants what they consider an occupation force to remain? Isn’t it time for the US to put an end to its nearly six billion dollar per year commitment to defend wealthy Japan? Perhaps that’s why the neocons keep trying to provoke China: to provide a pretext for the continued US occupation of Okinawa. More today in the Liberty Report:

Neoconned At State: ‘Diplomats’ Urge War

Recently, 51 State Department employees signed a memo urging the president to change his focus in Syria from fighting ISIS to fighting the secular Assad government. They argued that targeting Assad would weaken Assad’s enemy, ISIS. The logic is not immediately apparent. They also dismissed any danger that a US attack on Russia’s ally in Syria might annoy the Russians, who spent more than six months bombing ISIS and al-Qaeda in Syria. Although these 51 represent a very small faction within the Department, the neocon war propaganda immediately latched on to it. It made front page news in the New York Times. This is likely a preview of a Hillary presidency. More on this important development in today’s Liberty Report:
