In March, I wrote about speculation Dennis Kucinich may run for mayor of Cleveland, Ohio in 2021. Kucinich was mayor of Cleveland in the 1970s before going on to other political activities including serving in the United States House of Representatives and running for president.
Here is an update: In a new interview with WKYC-TV Kucinich confirmed he is giving “serious consideration” to campaigning in 2021 for election again to the Cleveland mayorship.
Could Kucinich win the race? Sam Allard, in a Wednesday Cleveland Scene article focused on Kucinich’s possible mayoral run, suggests that Kucinich would be a formidable candidate. “There’s no sense denying that Kucinich remains far and away the most gifted campaigner of all the potential mayoral candidates in Cleveland,” writes Allard, who also notes that “Kucinich has been laying the groundwork for a campaign since at least early 2020.”
Kucinich is an Advisory Board member for the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.
