Director of National Intelligence James Clapper met this week with the Rep. Walter Jones who is the sponsor of a resolution (H.Res. 14) seeking the publication of the redacted 28 pages of Congress’ Joint Inquiry Into Intelligence Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 2001. Jones relates in a press release concerning the meeting that Clapper said that Clapper intends to make his recommendation to the White House by the end of this week regarding declassifying the 28 pages.

This assurance is in line with Clapper’s earlier prediction, reported in the New York Times in April, that the Obama administration may complete its review of the 28 pages classification in June. While Jones’ press release does not disclose Clapper’s opinion on the matter, Central Intelligence Agency head John Brennan expressed reservations earlier this month to making the 28 pages public.

Jones is a member of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity Advisory Board.
