Frank Kendall, President Joe Biden’s nominee for Air Force Secretary, when he answered questions before Congress on Monday ahead of his expected confirmation in the role. He faced a disturbing dearth of serious scrutiny about his very lucrative entanglements with defense contractors who’ve made him rich. The absence of criticism from an apparently apathetic US Congress makes his nomination all-the-more an illustration that the infamous Washington “swamp” is dirtier than ever.
