While Senator John McCain is busy calling President Obama a sissy, with his “pinprick” airstrikes in Iraq, his neocon comrade Charles Krauthammer offers up the following idea:
The only thing that will make a difference is boots on the ground. Kurdish boots! Nobody’s asking for Americans. Just fly in the weapons!
Sure, just fly in the weapons! That has become the go-to move for neocons who have to deal with a war weary, and increasingly non-interventionist American public.
Didn’t the U.S. government “just fly in the weapons” to the Syrian insurgents? What pray tell happened to those weapons?
This may shock believers in the Empire, but the weapons helped to create the very ISIS menace that is steamrolling Iraq. As RPI Executive Director, Daniel McAdams pointed out: “Without US support for the rebels in Syria, ISIS would not be overrunning Iraq right now.”
Krauthammer wants yet another round of “Let’s arm X”.
Unless you’re a crony member of the military-industrial complex, the answer should be a resounding: “No!!”
