Israel Lobby Supports Jabhat Al-Nusra, Insurgents In Aleppo Surrounded

Israel gives cover and opened a corridor for Jabhat al-Nusra along the Golan height demarcation line to reach south Lebanon and the southern approaches to Damascus.

There seems to be no concern in Tel Aviv that one day Jabhat al-Nusra could turn against Israel too. That is somewhat astonishing as both Hizbullah and Hamas started with Israeli support as counterweights to the Palestinian Liberation Organization only to later become the most capable foes of the Israeli occupation forces. One might have thought that Israeli strategists had learned from such foolishness.

Whistleblowers Expose NSA-Partner Israel’s Corrupt Use of Surveillance Information

The Israel government, with whom the United States government has been sharing for years Americans’ and others’ unredacted private information and communications obtained through the US mass spying program, is being accused by tens of whistle-blowers of abusively using this sort of intelligence against Palestinians. The whistle-blowers, who are former and reserve members of intelligence-focused Unit 8200 of the Israel military, provide revelations illustrating some of the dangers mass spying poses in any country.

Forty-three members of Unit 8200 have written a letter to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several Israel military leaders declaring that they “refuse to take part in actions against Palestinians and refuse to continue serving as tools in deepening the military control over the Occupied Territories.” The letter focuses largely on how intelligence information is used to invade privacy, engage in political persecution, create divisions in the Palestinian population, fuel violence, and extend the Israel-Palestine conflict.

US War on Syria, Day Two: Civilian Casualties, New Scarier Group Hit, Israel Joins

In an attack on Syria that the Obama administration promises will be "ongoing," the first day of US bombs has reportedly left eight civilians dead including three children. Some 33 fighters were reportedly killed, producing a typical but troubling civilian-to-fighter kill ratio. US airstrikes struck inside the city of Raqqa, including residential buildings claimed to be occupied by ISIS. The group has already re-located its heavy weaponry out of the area, however.

The US has also, according to press reports, attacked the newly discovered (by the media at least) "Khorasan" group, touted as even scarier than ISIS and far more terrifying than the relatively tame al-Qaeda. The Pentagon claimed in a statement that this latter group was plotting an “imminent attack... against the United States and western interests.”

Another One-Sided Israel Vote Scheduled Today In Congress

Gazahell

It has been only a few days since Congress re-affirmed its support for the Israeli government's assault on Gaza, in which nearly 1,500 Palestinians have been killed.

In this ongoing operation, some three out of four Palestinians killed have been civilians. The infrastructure has been decimated. Gaza's only power generation plant has been destroyed by Israel, meaning life is about to get that much more hellish for innocent civilians.

Nevertheless, today the House will take up another one-sided, pro-Israel resolution. This one will be Florida Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's H Con Res 107, which exonerates Israel from blame over the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza by claiming the civilians were killed because they were being used as "human shields" by Hamas.

Eric Margolis: ‘Blame for this Bloodbath Sits as Much With the US as it Does With Israel’

International affairs writer and RPI Academic Board Member Eric Margolis, interviewed Monday on the Scott Horton Show, concludes regarding Israel’s military attack on and invasion of Gaza that “the blame for this bloodbath sits as much with the US as it does with Israel” and that the US government could end the war “in a minute” if it had the “political will.”

Expanding on the analysis in his article “David v. Goliath in Gaza” from earlier this month, Margolis states that President Barack Obama could effectively order Israel to end the attack on Gaza that is supported by US aid and weapons, but suggests Obama will not do so for electoral reasons...

Dennis Kucinich: Congress Should Recognize That Palestinians Exist

One of the few regrets I have in not being a member of the 113th US Congress is that I was not present in the House chambers to oppose H.Res.657, which passed by a voice vote, supporting Israel without mentioning the Palestinians.

Congress missed a huge opportunity to stand for peace in the Middle East, recognizing and backing Israel under attack by Hamas, while ignoring issues of illegal settlement building, the desperate conditions inside Gaza, the Israeli government’s subversion of Palestinian unity and the insufficiency of the Cairo initiative which amounted to non-negotiable demands.

Eric Cantor's Final Assault

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) may have lost his primary to a relatively unknown challenger, but that does not mean he is going quietly into that good night. His long track record of ramming through the House the most one-sided resolutions praising the actions of the Israeli government (as long as those actions involve attacks on Arabs and not attempts to make peace) continues apace even as his time in the House draws to a close.

As Israel's American-made F-16s continue to deliver American-made bombs, paid for by the US taxpayer, on Gaza, where more than 150 Palestinians have been killed, Cantor takes time out to applaud the passage of yet another House Resolution praising Israel's actions.

Daddy Warbucks Seeks President

Much is made of money in politics and how the process is shaped by big donors. While RPI does not concern itself with politics or elections, there is a disturbing related phenomenon that does indeed concern our mission: big money purchasing war.

Take casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, for example. As Pat Buchanan points out today, the pro-war billionaire snapped his fingers last week and potential Republican presidential candidates came running to his self-styled "Sheldon" primary. Their purpose was to out-compete each other on Adelson's favorite issues so as to curry favor and thereby earn his millions for their campaign coffers. And Adelson's biggest issue is not even in the US -- it's Israel.

Are Israel And The US Edging Closer To a Divorce?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems frustrated to find that the Americans are harder to push than he famously once said. His Saudi crypto-allies appear to feel the same way.

"... what Kerry said on Thursday should disqualify him as a mediator for the peace process."

Interesting.  These same Zionist types did not seem to mind at all when the openly Zionist Dennis Ross served their interest in his belief that the Israelis are "his people."

Israel Attacks Syria -- Again!

Just as the mainstream press is reporting -- in astonishment -- that the Syrian government has actually abided by its unilaterally agreed upon pledge to submit its strategic chemical weapon deterrent to destruction by the international community, the international media is reporting that the Israeli military has once again launched a military attack against Syrian territory.

This marks at least the fifth time in 2013 that the Israeli military has, in clear violation of international law, launched military attacks against neighboring Syria. In violation of Lebanese airspace as well, it was reported that Israeli bombers flew over Lebanon to strike a Syrian military base near Latakia.
