Neocon Watch

As Peace Threatens To Break Out WIth Iran, Warmongers Flip Out

Talks are progressing between Iran and “the international community” (i.e., the U.S.). A peaceful resolution may be on the horizon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could not be more blunt in his opposition to a deal:
Israel understands that there are proposals on the table in Geneva today that would ease the pressure on Iran for concessions that are not concessions at all. This proposal would allow Iran to retain the capabilities to make nuclear weapons. Israel totally opposes these proposals. I believe that adopting them would be a mistake of historic proportions. They must be rejected outright.”
Antiwar.com’s John Glaser makes a lot of sense in reading Bibi’s anger:
Any deal with Iran, no matter how lopsided and favorable to the Western powers, would enshrine Iran’s limited enrichment program as legitimate in the eyes of the international community...In other words, a deal with Iran means Israel can’t launch an illegal war. Ouch.
Bibi’s sentiments are shared with neocon U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham:
Is the Israeli Prime Minister worried about where these talks are going? Yes. Should Americans be worried too? You better believe it.
To the contrary, Ron Paul has pointed out repeatedly that Iran is not a threat to U.S. national security. The biggest threat that we face is yet another financial crisis...not Iran.

Sen. Graham then finishes with:
Never forget. The same crowd that brought you the Obamacare website is in charge of negotiating the fate of the Iranian nuclear program. If that doesn’t concern you, it should.”
An ounce of truth! However, it’s a truth that also condemns the neocon driven military empire. Government should not be central planning at home with Obamacare. Nor should it be central planning abroad with military adventures and empire. Both inevitably run into the laws of economics, and the natural human desire to be free.

Lew Rockwell explained it superbly when describing why the military empire continues to stumble from one crisis to the next:
The US spends money, invades countries, sheds blood, and becomes ever more powerful at home and unpopular abroad. In the end, no matter how powerful its weapons or how determined its leaders, it loses. It loses because people resist empire. It loses for the same reasons that socialism and its central plans always fail. Large-scale attempts to force people into predetermined molds founder on the inability of the state to allocate resources rationally and to anticipate change, as well as the ubiquitous and pesky phenomenon called human volition. Mankind was not meant to live in cages.
The time must eventually come, when Americans no longer accept bureaucratic meddling at home or abroad. In the meantime, we’ll take what we can get. Peace with Iran, and a defeated Lindsey Graham are steps in the right direction.
